2022 CANIE Awards

We have so much to share with you this month! First, we are truly thrilled to officially announce the opening of the 2022 CANIE Awards! This year we are dividing the application process into 2 phases to support our adjudicators and give you more time to apply. Our first round of applications/nominations are open for the following categories until midnight on the 31st of May 2022 at which time we will open applications/nominations for the remaining categories.

The CANIE Awards is your opportunity to win $10,000 in cash as well as have your business promoted locally, regionally and nationally. Alternatively, if you know a business owner who is deserving of this recognition, we encourage you to nominate them to benefit from this injection of capital and the promotion of their business.

And this year we are thrilled to be planning 3 in-person events as well as a national, virtual gala as part of our celebrations of the diverse and inspiring businesses across this great land.

Note: We accept applicants and nominations for business owners from all recognized Canadian marginalized or underrepresented groups.

The initial categories are as follows:

Seniorpreneur Award for Leadership & Innovation (Presented by Arthur J E Child Foundation) – Awarded to a business owner who is 55+ and using their experience to succeed in their mission while contributing to their community

Global Impact Business Owner of the Year (Presented by UPS) – Awarded to organizations that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and social impact while scaling international markets.

The 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year (Presented by Ownr) – For exceptional leadership and ongoing impact in Canadian entrepreneurship.

CANIE Round Tables

CANIE Round Tables

The applications to our recent micro-grants came in from all over the country, from a multitude of market sectors and business types. Later this April we will be reaching out to some of those applicants to invite them to participate in another series of RoundTables. Our objective with these sessions is to provide a platform where your voices can be heard and to share our findings in the form of a report with both the public and private sector in pursuit of change for the better. Watch out for more detailed information on our website and social media platforms.

Have you checked out the UPS EXPRESS BOX yet?

Take the time to complete this important survey

NACCA Survey

NACCA has developed an Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship Survey to help us better understand the interests and needs of Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurs in Canada. They are asking for Indigenous entrepreneurs between 18 and 39 to complete the survey before April 4, 2022, at 4:30 Pacific Time. Below are the links to the surveys:

English: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/NACCA-IYE?lang=en

French: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/NACCA-IYE?lang=fr_CA

The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete. The participant’s personal data will not be disclosed nor used for any other purpose than the Indigenous youth entrepreneurship research project.

Every participant who completes the survey will be provided with a free downloadable, digital art created by Chief Lady Bird, a Chippewa and Potawatomi artist, educator, and community activist from Rama First Nation. This artwork was created by Chief Lady Bird specifically for participants of this project.

As this is a national Indigenous youth entrepreneurship study, NACCA is aiming to collect a sizeable number of responses from across the country. Your support is encouraged and appreciated, and will help shape important research that will inform future programming and other support for Indigenous youth entrepreneurs.
